The Little Bulldozer That Could

Today I witnessed a toy bulldozer rolling beneath the tires of the semi in front of me.

My immediate reaction was to swerve, lest the tiny plastic toy damage my 2700 pound metal vehicle. However, my cold, materialistic heart soon softened. I had just witnessed the death of this poor bulldozer, sacrificed in the name of modern transportation like so many hapless raccoons.

A victim of our recklessness, a society that encourages young, naïve bulldozers to pursue their dreams, consequences be damned. And when one too many people had told the bulldozer that it could accomplish anything it set its mind to, it finally got the message and took a crazy chance. As it tentatively rolled out into the interstate to begin construction, thinking that for once in its life it could do something important, something real, it was promptly crushed beneath the weight of the real world. Which, in this case, was a ten ton truck.

Also, I think the damn thing scratched my paint.
